How to Control Inflammation Naturally
Unwanted chronic inflammation (normal inflammation that's hindered from turning itself off.) is potentially harmful and must be dealt with effectively if any disease is to be defeated. Chronic, overactive inflammation overproduces excessive quantities of oxidizing ions or free radicals. These oxidants collaborate in the killing of bacteria, and as a reaction to toxins (ex. heavy metals), but when not shut off on time they destroy the connective tissue required to hold our bodies together as well maintain the integrity of the arterial wall. Fibrotic overgrowth follows, seen most often in lungs, liver, and skin. Elsewhere the event can cause scare tissue, dysfunctional tissue or narrowing of arteries. Thrombosis, COPD, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Chrohn's Disease, Periodontal Disease are some of the outcomes. Malignancy is another common event that may coincide with uncontrolled inflammation.
Chronic inflammation may also play a role in the onset of autoimmune disorders, or make the condition worse. Finally chronic inflammation contributes to virtually every degenerative disease. Unhealthy inflammation differs only in that it fails to shut itself off after reasonable amount of time- an event that sometimes driven by autoimmunity, chronic infection, chronic exposure to toxins, chronic disease, or a deficiency of the nutrients required to turn inflammation off naturally.
Our failure today to make inflammation work for us and successfully manage the condition, can be traced to the popularly-held assumption that chronic inflammation is due to some genetic human imperfection rather than poor management of diet and lifestyle. Successful, health –promoting management of inflammation is possible only when we understand that the inflammatory process is not flawed, or a pathological event, but rather is by design intended to protect and keep us in good repair. Any failure of the process to turn itself off is due more to nutritional deficiencies and lifestyle abuses to bodily imperfection.
1 month protocol (continue if necessary for 2-3 month):
- Take 2 grams of vitamin C (ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate, not calcium ascorbate) in the morning and 2 grams in the evening. 30 min. before or after the meals. Drink 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 1 capsule of friendly bacteria supplement in a glass of spring water with the Vit C.
- Supplement with 250 - 500 mg magnesium per day.
- Take 500mg of Potassium Citrate per day. Or other alkaline buffers
- Take 400 I.U Vitamin E daily at breakfast (Block and slow release of arachidonic acid (AA) cascade. Fat soluble anti-oxidant)
- Take 5000mg of Primrose Oil or Black Currantseed Oil with lunch (Stimulate biosynthesis of Series 1 prostaglandins necessary to shut down inflammation
- Take 2500 to 3000 mg of Omega 3 fatty acids(from fish or flax seed oil) with dinner.(Stimulate biosynthesis of Series 3 prostaglandins necessary to shut down inflammation and reduce the level of AA induced Series 2 prostaglandins)
- Take digestive enzymes (ex. papaya) with meals and proteolytic enzymes between meals.
- If adrenal insufficiency is apparent (Cortisol test), supplement with DHEA or Adrenal live cells. To know if necessary run a early morning 8 am (serum, fasting) cortisol test. Optimum: 11-25 microg/dl
